This 5-part webinar series is available to educators at MPY districts. Session 5 Information.

Integrating Academics & SEL in Middle and High School Classrooms
In the midst of the pandemic, students are struggling to activate the academic and social-emotional skills needed to complete complex, grade-appropriate work. In order to support these students, educators need practical, manageable strategies for integrating social-emotional learning in their content areas. This webinar series offers actionable ideas for teaching and assessing the five CASEL competencies of Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationships Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making. By integrating SEL and academics, educators can strengthen students’ subject-specific skills, increase equity, get to know their kids better, and reconnect with their love of teaching.

Session 5: Fostering Responsible Decision-Making Skills in Academic Classes
In this session, educators practice simple strategies for teaching and assessing responsible decision-making in their subject areas. Participants learn how to empower their students to analyze data, think critically, and make choices that are conducive to personal, social, and collective wellbeing and growth.
